In the first quarter of this year, Port Vanino exported 731.100 tons (+23.1% as compared to Q1, 2009). Of overall export volumes shipments of forest products increased by 35.6%, to 368.200 tons, exports of coal had a 96.7% surge, to 302.600 tons, the company said.
Import volumes reached 307.800 tons in Q1, 2010 (+2.3% from Q1, 2009). Imported alumina made up 307.500 tons (+5.8%). The company handled 128.1 thousand tons of coastal freight traffic, up 40.8% from the past year’s numbers, including 44.3 million tons of coal (+15.1%).
Vanino-Kholmsk ferry line transported 302.000 tons of cargo (+0.8% from Q1, 2009). Port Vanino handled 299 ships, including 136 ferries and 18.443 rail cars.
Containers volumes via the Port totaled in Q1, 2010 2.213 TEUs.
Vanino Commercial Seaport (Port Vanino OJSC) is the largest stevedoring company in the Khabarovsk Territory. Vanino is a gateway for shipments of commodities to Russia’s north-eastern regions, Japan, South Korea, China, Australia, USA and other countries in Asia Pacific. In 2009 Vanino reported 6 million tons of cargo transshipped via its terminals, a year-over-year 9.4% drop.
