South Korea’s top four shipbuilding companies report their portfolio of orders rose as much as five times in the first quarter of 2010 from the same period last year, Trading Markets reports citing the industry data.
The portfolio of orders of Hyundai Heavy Industries, Samsung Heavy Industries, Daewoo Shipbuilding and STX Offshore & Shipbuilding Q1, 2010 totaled $5.49b. Hyundai Heavy’s contracts reached $2.74 billion, Daewoo Shipbuilding has a $1.45-b contract, Samsung Heavy’s $750m, STX - $460 million.
