The regional authorities decided to give the green light to a new cargo and passenger ferry line, to connect Vladivostok, Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk and Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky, the Primorsky Territory administration press service said quoting Sergei Darkin, the regional Governor. Mr. Darkin’s statement was made at a briefing after his meeting with Viktor Ishayev, the Russian President’s Envoy to the Russian Far East Region. The top officials meeting was focused on APEC Summit to be hosted in Vladivostok in 2012.
Mr. Darkin noted, the new ferry line should be open by this fall. He said there had been an agreement to transfer a ship from the Baltic Sea to Primorye that could operate the ferry line.
