Vostochny Port posts a twofold freight traffic rise in H1, over 17m tons

Freight traffic volume via Port Vostochny (Primorsky Territory) in January-June surged by almost 1.9 times from the same period last year, to 17.19 million tons, PortNews IAA reported citing the Port’s statistics.

The volume of coal, coke, including charge and anthracite, rose by 10.4% in six straight months to 8.1 million tons, petroleum products gained 3% to 270,000 tons.

Crude exports, 7,142,000 tons, via SpetsMorNeftePort Kozmino Llc Terminal fueled the port’s half-year volume spike.

Port's container throughput grew by 32.6%, to 104,944 TEUs.

In June cargo turnover at the port jumped two times as much from last year’s June, to 3.36 million tons, including a 8.7-percent coal volume rise to 1.46 million tons.

Vostochny (East) Port is the largest deep-sea port in the Far East of Russia. It is located on the shores of unfreezing Wrangel Bay of the Japan Sea near the village of Vostochny to the south of Primorsky Territory, 30 km east off Nakhodka. The annual port’s throughput exceeds 18 million tons of cargoes. The VP operates 19 berths 4.7 km in length and depths ranging from 6.5 to 16.5 m. The port’s portfolio of assets includes one of Russia's largest container terminal and a coal terminal and developed warehousing facilities. The Vostochny Port handles chemicals (fertilizers, methanol) and timber cargo. Its deep waters allow 150-dwt vessels to call at the port. Last year, Vostochny Port’s throughput fell to 18,941.100 tons.
