The partnership has already lined up projects in Europe and South America, with operations expected to commence in January, 2011.
The new company will be headquartered in Duisburg, Germany.
The focus of the venture will be the managing, operating and marketing of ports and port terminals.
Duisport will be providing port technical and logistics expertise, along with the possibility of integrating projects into its existing logistics network.
Hochtief Concessions will be contributing its expertise and market knowledge in the financing, structuring, and management of large scale infrastructure projects.
At the announcement of the venture, Duisburger Hafen chief executive Erich Staake said: “By founding this company, Duisport will be in a position to further develop and permanently establish our already-implemented steps to internationalisation in a target-oriented manner and to realise logistics projects in strategic markets with value creating consequences for North Rhine-Westphalia.”
