Vostochny Port’s Jan-Nov throughput down 1% to 13,478m tons

The volume of cargo handled by JSC Vostochny Port (Primorsky Territory) in the 11-month period of 2010 fell 1% from the same period of a year earlier to 13,478,100 tons, the company said citing the control room’s operational data.

In November, freight flows via Vostochny Port terminals dropped 16% compared with Nov, 2009 to 995,500 tons of cargo.

Universal Handling Terminal (PPK-1) handled in 11 recent months 2,578,800 tons of various cargoes, a 20-percent gain vs last year’s figures. In November, the terminal showed a 34-percent throughput growth to 212,200 tons.

Specialized Coal Terminal (PPK-3) transshipped in Jan-Nov 10,899,300 tons of coal, 5% less than in the same period of 2009. In November the terminal handled 783,200 tons, 24% down from the last year's result.

Vostochny Port OJSC is the largest stevedoring company in the Russia’s Far East. The company specializes in transshipment of coal using the conveyor equipment. The Vostochny Port’s assets include a Specialized Coal Complex and a Universal Production and Handling Facility intended for transshipment of general and bulk cargoes (coal, coke, clinker, iron ore, timber, etc.). The stevedore is capable to handle metals, pulp, aluminum, chemical, long-sized and heavy cargoes. Last year, Vostochny Port’s cargo throughput fell 3% to 14.585.800 tons.
