Vostochny port’s 11-month cargo throughput up 5.9% to 18,65m tons

Freight traffic volume handled by the port of Vostochny (Russia’s Primorsky Territory) in January-November of this year increased by 5.9% compared with the same period last year, to 18.65 million tons (excluding the Kozmino terminal’s oil throughput), PortNews reports with reference to the Port Authority’s statistics.
 
Eleven-month throughput of coal, hard coke, including charge and anthracite gained 1% to 14.94 million tons, handling of fertilizer rose 10% to 794,800 tons, of petroleum products – by 10% to 480,100 tons.

Container traffic soared by 60% to 231,870 TEUs.

Vostochny (East) Port is the largest Russian deep-sea port in the Far East. It is located on the shores of unfreezing Wrangel Bay of the Japan Sea near the village of Vostochny to the south of Primorsky Territory, 30 km east off Nakhodka. The annual port’s cargo throughput exceeds 18 million tons. Vostochny port operates 19 berths (4.7km long, depths ranging from 6.5 to 16.5 meters). The Vostochny’s portfolio of assets includes one of the largest Russia's container terminal, a coal terminal and a developed warehousing facility. Vostochny Port handles chemicals (fertilizers, methanol) and lumber. Its deep waters allow 150-dwt vessels to dock at the port. Last year’s freight traffic volume dropped 8.14% year-over-year, to 18,941,100 tons.
