"The federal program was adopted before the crisis, but we would not want to change it because it is based on project-target method," the Ministry’s press service quoted Igor Levitin as saying. In this regard, it was decided not to revise the program, but to extend it, retaining the existing funds, the report said.
The minister also spoke in favor of further cooperation of the Ministry of Transport and ASOP in improving the legislative framework of the seaports activities, innovation and modernization. In this connection, Igor Levitin suggested the Board of Directors of ASOP to work together in research. According to him, the discussion of Rosmorport reforming issue is very important.
Besides, Igor Levitin told how the activities of Russian sea ports might affect the creation of a single economic space and Russia’s accession to WTO.
The Board of Directors meeting was attended by Russian Deputy Transport Minister Viktor Olersky.
Association of Commercial Sea Ports (ASOP) was founded in 1987. Currently, ASOP unites more than 50 Russian organizations and enterprises of maritime transport. The Association includes commercial sea ports, forwarding and agency companies, research institutes and maritime transport schools. The outcome data of the Russian port complex is based on statistical reports, covering all stevedoring companies operating in the country.
