According to the decree "On the optimization of the system of central bodies of executive power” signed the night before by Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych some of the functions of the Ministry of Transport and Communication are to be reassigned to the Ministry of Infrastructure as the first one has been dissolved. In the framework of administrative reform 10 ministries have been created and reorganized recently.
By another decree, the president of Ukraine appointed Borys Kolesnikov Vice-Premier and Infrastructure Minister. The former Minister of Transport and Communications of Ukraine Konstantin Efimenko stepped down.
Earlier, Prime Minister Mykola Azarov has said there will be in the course of administrative reform in Ukraine, a reduction of committees, departments and state officials. On October 28 this year, the European Commission agreed to finance the administrative reform in Ukraine. As a result of the project in 2011-2013 €70 million are expected to be channeled to the country’s state budget.
