“This major order represents an important milestone for Alewijnse Marine Systems in its strategy to consolidate its position in the dredging sector,” said the company in a statement.
The two TSHDs will be identical and each will have a hopper capacity of 5,500 cubic-metres. The two vessels will be built at one of the IHC shipyards in the Netherlands and the delivery of the first vessel is scheduled for July 2012. The second ship is expected to be delivered six months later in December 2012.
Alewijnse Marine Systems will deliver all the electrical components for the vessels’ navigation, communications and control systems. The contract value is undisclosed.
Engineering is taking place at the customer’s offices at Kinderdijk to ensure optimum integration between the Alewijnse team and the overall client/yard design process.
To date Alewijnse Marine Systems has won contracts for 13 dredging vessels, both new builds and refits.
The company offers complete electrical installation packages to operators in the sector, including systems for alarm, monitoring and control, power management, navigation, communications, and propulsion.
