The 11-month growth was fueled by the port of Odessa’s 37-percent gain in container volume to 316,345 TEUs, Mariupol port’s 38% throughput increase to 5,674 TEUs and Ilyichevsk port’s 273,698 TEUs (+16%).
In November, Ukrainian ports demonstrated a 27-percent rise in handling containerized cargo.
Earlier, the Ministry drafted amendments to the regulations, reducing to 4 hours the time for handling one container at the ports. Besides, the Ministry, to boost container traffic, introduced a 50-percent discount on transshipment of containers.
The taken measures, the Ministry says, have ensured steady increase in container handling in the last 4 months.
