Astrakhan region receives 3 new rescue vessels

Federal State Unitary Enterprise "North Caspian management of rescue and underwater engineering work" took delivery of three new salvage ships, the first ones delivered to the region for the past 30 years, the Astrakhan region administration statement said.

The vessels were acquired as part of the development program of the state marine rescue service, adopted by the Russian government for 2010-2015. It is planned that within 5 years the Astrakhan Maritime Rescue Fleet will add to its fleet 12 vessels that will be operating on the Volga river and in the Russian sector of the Caspian Sea.

"We’ve never had such a fleet," said Governor Alexander Zhilkin, aboard the diving support vessel ‘Stolny grad of Yaroslavl’. The two other vessels arrived in the region are the Anatoly Veretekhin and the Vodolaz Denisov.

The project SDS08 vessels (Stolny grad Yaroslavl) are built at Yaroslavsky Shipbuilding Plant. The Customer - Federal Agency of Maritime and River Transport of the Russian Federation. Boats Vodolaz (diver) Denisov was built at Nizhny Novgorod MV plant. Booms deploying boat Anatoly Veretekhin was built at Rybinsk-based Nobel Brothers’ Shipyard (Yaroslavl region) for FGU Gosmorspassluzhba of Russia.
