Without the above positions, the Group’s cargo throughput for the 11-month period totaled 30,391,800 tons, 390,400 tons more than a year earlier.
Container traffic surged 98.7% from the same period of 2009 to 418,600 TEUs, perishable goods handling jumped 55.8% to 9,178,200 tons, nonferrous metals shipments reached 91,016,700 tons (+26.6%), bulk fertilizers volume rose by 25.5% t 1,834,100 tons. Transshipment of timber cargo and sugar gained 19.4% to 1,019,800 tons and 1,444,900 tons, respectively.
In the reporting period, the Group’s Baltic Stevedoring Company Ltd. was leading among other container terminals. The company implementing a project to boost its container terminal capacity to 400,000 TEUs acquired the third mobile crane, 10 container trucks with trailers and 4 RTG cranes to be delivered in December. In November this year, BSC was registered the resident of Kaliningrad Region’s Special Economic Zone. BSC’s container throughput soared in Jan-Nov by 257.8% as compared with the last year’s 11-month period.
However, there was a 4-percent decline in volume of petroleum products liquid mineral fertilizer (11,516,800 tons and 483,000 tons, accordingly). Transshipment of oil shrank by 55.1% to 116,900 tons. In the segment of bulked cargoes iron ore volume dropped by 19.3%, to 1,982,100 tons and handling of ferrous metals fell 12% to 7,155,400 tons.
