OOCL hikes rates on Asia-Europe, Australia services

OOCL announced it would introduce freight rate increases from Asia to North Europe (Westbound) and Asia to Mediterranean/Black Sea (Westbound), both excluding Japan, will be increased by $300 per TEU, effective from January 2, 2011, OOCL's press release said.

Besides, OOCL said it would hike freight rates for traffic from Southeast Asia (Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, Indonesia, Vietnam, Cambodia, Philippines, Indian Subcontinent and Middle East) to Australia by $200 per TEU,effective from Jan 15, 2011.

According to the shipping company's statement the rates increase was introduced "in order to continue providing high quality services for its customers in the current high cost environment" and due to revenue recovery program.
