Nevsky Shipyard starts a newbuildings project for North-West Fleet

Nevsky Shipyard (Schlisselburg, Leningrad Region), held today the keel-laying ceremony of a lead ship of project RSD49, the shipbuilder’s press release said.
 
The self-propelled dry-cargo ship is the first of a series of 10 river and sea-going vessels of deadweight of about 7,000 tons ordered by North-Western Fleet. The project was developed by CJSC Marine Engineering Bureau-Design-SPb jointly with specialists of the Customer and the shipbuilder.
 
As Nevsky Shipyard’s CEO Vladimir Bazhenov said speaking at the keel-laying ceremony the enterprise will be fully committed to implementation of the newbuildings order in a timely manner. In addition, Vladimir Bazhenov emphasized that series construction is extremely important for the Shipyard as there is an opportunity to use the gained experience for the following vessels of a series.
 
Main ship dimensions and characteristics: LOA - 139.95 m, BOA - 16.7 m, draft in fresh water - 3,6 m, cargo holds, length - 25 m + 50 m + 25 m, deadweight in fresh water – about 4525 tons (draft 3,6 m), deadweight in salt water – about 7,000 tons (draft 4,7), cargo holds - about 10.9 cbm. The vessel is designed and constructed according to the rules and under the supervision of Russian Maritime Register of Shipping to the class KM Ise2 R2 AUT1-C.

Shlisselburg-based Nevsky Shipyard LLC, a subsidiary of JSC North-Western Shipping Company (part of UCL Holding), is situated about 40 km from Saint-Petersburg on the left bank of the Neva River. Nevsky Shipyard is one of the oldest enterprises of water transport of Russia’s the North-West. The company has been engaged in shipbuilding since 1952. The shipbuilder constructs river and sea-going vessels of various types and purposes and provides all kinds of ship repair. Nevsky Shipyard’s slipway allows launching and lifting for repair 140-m-long vessels with dock weight up to 2500 tons.
