Swan Hellenic to call at Cebu, Philippines

Philippines: British cruise operator, Swan Hellenic, has included Cebu in their ports of call in Asia, with the first ship to arrive in January 2011, according to a report in The Freeman.

Passengers will dock at Cebu Port on January 26 for a shore excursion of the Cebu and Mactan areas, and leave later in the evening of the same day. Sites that will be visited include Plaza Sugbo where Magellan's Cross is located, the Basilica Minore del Sto. Nino, Fort San Pedro, Yap-San Diego ancestral house, Casa Gorordo, Museo Sugbo and the Taoist Temple.

Blue Horizon Travel and Tours, appointed by Swan Hellenic Cruises as their ground operator in Cebu, requested the city council to provide increased police visibility during the cruise ship’s visits.

The cruise ship, ‘Minerva’, measures 133 metres long with six passenger decks and can accommodate 320 passengers.

The 160 crewmembers are mostly Filipino and Ukrainian.
