Mombasa port will receive security systems which will include the development of civil and communications infrastructures, installations of a comprehensive security solution, commissioning, training and support.
"This project is key to securing the port, but more importantly, securing the trade and growth of Kenya and its neighbouring countries," said Shukri Barmadi, chairman of the Kenya Ports Authority. "We are pleased to be working with Magal S3 and in making this a reality."
Magal S3 says security features will also include 10 kilometres of smart fence, various types of gates with access control, a full CCTV solution with long-range day and night surveillance cameras, static and PTZ cameras, supported by Magal’s latest Intelligent Video Analytics product, Maestro DB; intercom and radio communication and other security elements.
“Mombasa is a major strategic seaport for East Africa, handling thousands of vessels every year,” said Eitan Livneh, president and chief executive officer of Magal. “We will work closely with the Port Authority of Kenya towards achieving International Ship and Port facility Security compliance, addressing the security challenges within this sensitive region.”
