SITC orders two boxships

SITC International Holding Company Limited (SITC) announces it has signed two shipbuilding contracts with an undisclosed independent yard to build two 1,100teu boxships, worth $39.6m in total.
The company, founded in 1991 as Shandong International Transportation Corp, said the non-geared vessels are due for delivery in September and December 2012 at latest.
SITC is expanding rapidsly and has now ordered nine container ships  since being listed in October this year.
The latest two orders mark a further stage in the company's strategic development of its own tonnage, and the company plans to increase its fleet from 42 to 60 vessels within three years, SITC Chairman and Executive Director Yang Shaopeng said.
