Sergei Terskov is appointed Lotus Shipyard’s CEO

Sergei Terskov was appointed Chief Executive Officer of Lotus Shipyard, the Astrakhan Administration’s press release said. On Tuesday, Prime Minister of the regional government Konstantin Markelov formally introduced Sergei Terskov as the new head of the company.

For the past three years the shipbuilding enterprise has suffering downturn due to the lack of orders and financing. Now Lotus has received several newbuilding orders, the regional government said. Details were not disclosed.

The new head of the company believes Lotus will soon recover as it has been in talks on new shipbuilding projects. "Now we're on the starting position and I am sure that new projects will become the impetus for technological upgrading of the plant," Sergei Terskov said.

Sergei Terskov was born in 1953. From 2005 to 2008 he was Deputy Chairman of the Government of the Astrakhan region – the regional Minister of Industry, Transport and Communications. He was elected the regional parliament member.

Shipyard Lotos was selected by United Shipbuilding Corporation as the key shipbuilding enterprise for revival of river shipbuilding in southern Russia. USC owns 44% of shares in the company, the regional government is a minority shareholder.
 
Astrakhan-based Lotus Shipyard (part of MNP Group), a largest enterprise in the Astrakhan region, specializes in construction of modules of topsides for offshore drilling rigs. Currently, the company repairs ships hulls, hull systems and machinery. Lotus Shipyard is certified by The Russian Maritime Register of Shipping, Russian River Register, GL, Gosgortechnadzor of the Russian Federation.
