MCS acquires new equipment for handling bulked cargoes

Murmansk Commercial Seaport (MCS), running its expansion and upgrade program for this year, took delivery of new equipment to handle bulked cargo, the stevedore company’s press release said.

The MCS’ fleet of equipment was replenished with three Liebherr bulldozers and six Liebherr wheel loaders (of bucket capacity of 5 cbm). The new machines are featured by their improved productivity and performance, as well as the comfortable working environment for the driver. In the near future, this equipment should replace the aging and outdated loaders and bulldozers, and significantly increase the productivity of the company.

The company also acquired under the same program heavy tire changers manufactured by CORGHI firm. The new equipment will reduce the time spent for changing large diameter tires and improve their quality.
OJSC Murmansk Commercial Seaport was founded in 1994 based on the state-owned enterprise. The company has 17 berths with total length of about 3,000 meters. The length and depth at the berths allow handling 265m-long, 15,5m-breadth vessels. In 2009, the MCS’s cargo throughput rose by 4% to 15,1 million tons.
