South Korean ports' cargo throughput in November rose by 13.5% to 106.79m tons. This turns out a new monthly record, the Korean Ministry of Land, Transportation and Maritime statistics said.
Container throughput at the nation’s ports in November was 1.65m TEU, an increase of 10.3% year-on-year.
Busan’s throughput was nearly 1.21 TEU, accounting for 74% of the total. Elsewhere, at major ports such as Inchon and Ulsan, cargo volumes were boosted by soaring import and export volumes of iron ore and oil products.
Freight traffic passing via Korean ports in Jan-Nov totalted 1,093m tons, a 11.5-percent gain over the same period a year earlier.
