Vostochny Port’s cargo volume is up 13% in Q1 to 3,76m tons

Port of Vostochny’s cargo throughput in the I quarter of 2011 increased by 13% compared with the same period of 2010, to 3,764,100 tons of cargo, the company’s press service reported.

In the reporting period Universal Handling Terminal handled 522,800 tons of cargo (-2%). Coal throughput of Vostochny Specialized Coal Terminal rose by 16% to 2,241,200 tons.
In March, Vostochny terminals handled 1,402,300 tons of different cargoes (+14%). Monthly volume of cargo handled at UHT amounted to198,700 tons, 2% below last year's figure. Coal Terminal handled in March 1,203,600 tons (+17%).
 
Vostochny Port JSC is the largest stevedore company in the Russian Far East operating in the port of Vostochny. The company specializes in handling of coal using the conveyor equipment. The company’s assets include a Specialized Coal Terminal and Universal Terminal (PPK-1) for handling general and bulk cargoes (coal, coke, clinker, iron ore, timber, etc.) as well as metals, pulp, aluminum, chemical, heavy-lift and oversized cargo. In 2010, Vostochny Port’s cargo throughput rose 1% year-over-year to 14.700.300 tons. The stevedore company says it plans to handle 17 million tons of coal this year.
