Nanjing-based East Star Shipyard (China) on March 30, 2011 launched a Tug Supply Vessel of Project TG-05, ordered by OMS Shipping LLP (Aktau, Kazakhstan), PortNews reports citing the shipping company. The vessel is expected to be commissioned on June 30 this year.
The ship is designed for towing operations at sea, in port or at anchor; transport of supplies and goods to offshore floating and fixed platforms of different purposes; for firefighting on offshore and onshore facilities and other ships. Ship dimensions: LOA - 30 m, beam - 11,2 m, depth - 4,5 m, draft - 2,9 m, main engines power rated - 2 x 800 kW, Ship Class - KM * Ice2 R1 AUT3-C Tug Supply Vessel.
OMS Shipping expects to take delivery of three tugs, currently under construction at the Chinese shipyard, in late June 2011. The company plans to operate all the vessels in the North Caspian Sea. In addition, OMS Shipping had placed an order for 5 tugs (project TG-05) at Astrakhan Shipbuilding Production Association (ASPO, Astrakhan). The vessels are scheduled to be commissioned this year. The shipping company also awarded Astrakhan shipbuilder the contract for construction of a floating hotel of project 0801A-1 Ilych, which is scheduled for delivery in 2011.
