Trade flows passing through the ports of Finland reached in January-February 2011 13,328,500 tons of different cargoes, 7.3% up from a year earlier, the Association of Finnish ports reported.
Two-month volume of inbound goods handled at the country’s seaports increased by 11.8% to 7,345,200 tons, outbound cargo rose by 2.3% to 5,983,300 tons.
The growth was driven by the port of Sköldvik that handled 2,517,400 tons (6.3% down from 2010).
The port of Kotka demonstrated a 14.6 percent cargo volume increase to 1,473,400 tons, freight flows at the port of Helsinki rose by 8.1% to 1,687,900 tons. Cargo turnover at the port of Hamina for the period grew by 9.3% to 620,600 tons.
In 2010, total cargo throughput of the Finland’s seaports rose year-over-year by 12.1% to 88,2m tons.
