Sosnowsky Shipyard launches 1st SV for Kamchatka region

Sosnowsky Shipyard launched on May 13, 2011 the lead ship Sosnovka-1 (yard number 10500) of a series of Project DCV47 supply vessels being built for Russian Kamchatka, the Marine Engineering Bureau said.

The vessel was ordered by the Federal Agency of Sea and River Transport. The newbuilds construction is funded through the Federal Target Program "Economic and Social Development of the Far East and Transbaikalia until 2013”.

The self-propelled Ro-Ro barge of carrying capacity of 250 tons is intended for shipping general, bulk and containerized cargoes on the cargo deck, as well as wheeled and tracked vehicles by rolling on board, for offshore loading and unloading of ships. The vessel is designed for delivery of cargo to the unequipped shore with rolling off the cargo through the bow ramp or offloading by the ship crane.

The ship dimensions: LOA - 42,6 m, beam - 8,6 m, SLWS draft - 2 m, maximum speed - 9 knots. Rated power of 2 main engines - 256 kW each. The vessel is built to a class of Russian Maritime Register of Shipping: KM Ice 2 R1 AUT3 OMBO. Load on the cargo deck - 15 tons on axle vehicles or tracked vehicles – up to 60 tons. The barge’s container capacity is12 TEUs.

The keel-laying of the lead ship Sosnovka-1 was held on January 13, 2010. The Sosnovka-2 was laid on January 18, 2010, the Sosnovka-3 – on Feb. 28, 2011, the Sosnovka-4 – on March 11, 2011.

Sosnowsky Shipyard JSC founded in 1924 specializes in construction of vessels of various modifications using flow production. The shipbuilder is capable of manufacturing up to 300 small vessels annually.
