The handing-over ceremony of the passenger port "Marine Façade" to St. Petersburg City Administration will be held on May 27, 2011, the port’s press service reported. The transfer of the port into the ownership of the city is carried out in line with the target program "Implementation of an investment project on development of maritime passenger terminal on Vasilevsky Island in St. Petersburg,” the Marine Façade Port Authority said. The ceremony will be attended by St. Petersburg Governor Valentina Matvienko and officials of the Russian Federation and St. Petersburg.
Construction of the new Passenger Port of St. Petersburg "Marine Façade" is implemented through the public-private partnership. The port waters dredging, construction of approach canal, reconstruction of Petrovsky fairway in 2005 was funded through the federal budget. In addition, the federal government financed the creation at the Port of checkpoints across the state border, the purchase and installation of navigation equipment, ensuring safe navigation in port waters. Private entities have invested into reclamation works, the construction of quay walls, buildings, stations and facilities, the port management center, roads and engineering infrastructure.
