Port of Helsinki cargo volume up 6% to 3,3 million tons

Trade flows passing through the Port of Helsinki (Finland) in January-April 2011 grew by 6% from the same period in 2010, to 3,3 million tons, the Port Authority said. In April, the port’s cargo throughput increased slightly, reaching 894,000 tons.  

The four-month imports increased by 8% to 1,7 million tons, exports - by 5% to 1,6 million tons. The January-April the port handled 2,8 million passengers (+6%), in April – 791,000 passengers (+5%).
 
Port of Helsinki is a largest port in Finland. Cargo throughput of the port in 2010 grew by 12% y-o-y to 10,921,000 tons, container traffic rose 11% to 399,903 TEUs, Ro-Ro cargo shipments totaled 488,772 units (+13%).
