Rosselkhoznadzor facilitates inspection procedure of imported goods

Russia's automated system, "Argus" gives the possibility of prior notification of border control checkpoints on the date and place of the planned arrival of the goods imported to Russia and subject to border, phytosanitary, sanitary and veterinary controls, said the press release of the Federal Service for Veterinary and Phytosanitary Surveillance (Rosselkhoznadzor).

Currently, the system of prior notification for imported goods crossing the Russian border will be available only for airborne cargoes at the airports’ checkpoints. Following the test results the system will be introduced at all types of checkpoints.

The agency said the "Argus" system would ease the border control procedure as well for control agencies as for shippers and cargo owners.

Rosselkhoznadzor noted that the notification should contain relevant information on the goods. "Misinformation cases will be recorded by us and will lead to undesirable consequences," the agency said.

The "Argus" web-based system is designed to automate the process for considering applications for import, export or transit of animal food products, the permitting process or failures.
