PTT’s to start Rayong LNG terminal in June

Thailand's state gas company PTT will start commissioning its 5m tonnes per annum (mtpa) LNG terminal in Rayong province in June, local media has reported, Seatrade Asia online reports.Commercial operations are likely to start in the third quarter of this year.
PTT will import up to three cargoes from Qatargas for the commissioning process. Beyond that PTT is in negotiations with Qatargas, Shell and others over the sale of gas for the terminal which will likely take 1m tonnes of LNG in its first year of operations. With the Tai government suspending plans for nuclear power plants PTT has said recently it will need an additional 5mtpa of LNG by the end of the decade.
