Contargo launches new Rotterdam-Karlsruhe rail service

As from May 30, Contargo starts a new container train shuttle between Karlsruhe, in the southern German state of Baden-Württemberg, and Rotterdam. This Wörth-Multimodal-Express will run twice a week in both directions, the Rotterdam Port Authority press release said. The terminals used are the trimodal Contargo-terminal in Wörth, along the Rhine, and the ECT Delta-terminal at Rotterdam Maasvlakte.

The shuttle responds to customers need for a faster alternative for certain products as compared to inland shipping, for example to catch a specific departure in the seaport. Contargo, a very large inland shipping operator as well, now is able to offer rail transport as an alternative to road transport. In Wörth, the company dispose of 7,000 TEU of stacking capacity. The terminal dispose of three berths for inland vessels and five rail tracks. By water, Contargo sails to Rotterdam four times a week.
