LDZ plans to launch container train to Kaluga in late 2011

A container train from Latvia to Kaluga has been scheduled for launch in late 2011, the Board Chairman of LDZ Cargo Guntis Macs told the PortNews correspondent at the Baltic Forum in Riga. The train will ensure delivery of auto parts for assembly plants in Kaluga of at least 1,400 TEUs a week.

Earlier, Latvian Railways had launched a shuttle container train from Freeport of Riga to Afghanistan (with non-military goods of NATO), Kazakhstan and Belarus, and a container train carrying some volumes of cargo to Moscow.

LDz Cargo is a subsidiary of the state-owned Latvian Railway engaged in cargo transportation.
