An empty tank for petroleum products exploded this early morning at the oil depot of OJSC KamchatskNefterodukt, the regional emergencies department said. As a result, three employees of the depot died. The EMERCOM reported there were no leakage and threats of ignition of oil products in other tanks.
Preliminary inquiry into the accident has proved a violation of fire safety rules while the workers were dismantling the tank. The emergency response teams included 73 men and 17 units of special equipment, including 42 men and 10 vehicles of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Russia.
