"The export potential, based on the plan is 15 million tons... We have fair chance today to fulfill the plan,” said Arkady Zlochevsky, speaking at the Ministry of Economic Development to report on the impact of last year’s drought.
Earlier, Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin said the government would lift a grain exports ban from July 1, 2011. The ban was imposed on Aug. 15, 2010 due to severe drought in Russia. Russia raised its forecast for harvest in 2011 to 85-90 million tons versus 60.9 million tons in 2010.
