Sungdong Shipbuilding bags livestock carrier newbuilds
Mid-sized Korean shipbuilder Sungdong Shipbuilding and Marine Engineering has bagged a contract for 10 livestock newbuildings from a Malaysian company, Seatrade Asia online reports. PBHH (Pembangunan Buka Jijau Holdings) has ordered two series of five livestock carriers from the Korean yard to be built to concept designs by Groot Ship Design.
The company has contracted for Livestock carrier 7,000 ships capable of carrying 7,000 cattle and five Livestock 11,000 ships with the capacity to carry 11,000 cattle.
Livestock is shipped from Sudan to Malaysia and as return cargo frozen chicken will be carried, each ship will therefore be able to load 100 40-foot reefer containers.
