Kazakhstan’s Port of Aktau cargo volume down 6.2 percent
Cargo throughput at RSE Aktau International Commercial Sea Port (Port of Aktau, Kazakhstan) in January-May shrank by 6.2 percent from last year’s figures, to 4,651,000 tons of dry bulk cargo and oil products, the company’s statistics said.
During the reporting period, crude and oil product shipments totaled 3,048,000 tons, dry bulk cargo - 1,602,500 tons, including 600,200 tons of steel products, grain – 331,500 tons, other cargoes - 144,800 tons.
in 2012, there were 816 calls at the port, 32 ships less than a year before.
In May, Aktau Port handled 897,500 tons of dry bulk cargo and oil products, including 566,000 tons of oil products, 103,200 tons of steel products, 107,000 tons of ferry cargoes, 83,500 tons of grain and 37,800 tons of other loads. In May, the port saw 160 arrivals of cargo ships.
The Republican State Enterprise Aktau International Sea Commercial Port (Port of Aktau), located on the east coast of the Caspian Sea, is the premier port of Kazakhstan. The port is a gateway for international trade flows passing through the country. The Aktau port’s terminals handle a broad range of dry cargoes, crude oil and petroleum products.
