SSN "Severodvinsk" and "Alexander Nevsky" to undergo sea trials
Nuclear-powered submarines (SSN) "Severodvinsk" and "Alexander Nevsky" are set to undergo the shipyard underway trials, the United Shipbuilding Corporation (USC) said. SSN Severodvinsk will set sail for sea trials in the next few days, while SSN Alexander Nevsky is finalizing preparation for the testing. More specific dates are not specified.
Under the provisions of the State Armaments Program 2020 the Corporation in the near future will deliver to the Customer - the Russian Defense Ministry SSBN Yuri Dolgorukiy, Russia's strategic nuclear submarine of the Borei class of the Project 955, developed by Rubin Central Design Bureau for Marine Engineering. Currently, the submarine built at Sevmash shipyards has successfully completing the shipyard and state sea trials in the White Sea.
At the same time, Sevmash is finalizing the construction of the series third submarine Vladimir Monomakh. The shipbuilder has commenced the construction of first nuclear-submarine of modified projects 955A Borei-A and 885M Yasen-M.
Overall, the Defense Ministry has signed three contracts under the state defense program: with CDB Rubin for the design of the lead ship of the upgraded Borei-A class, with Sevmash - for the construction of the project lead ship, and with United Shipbuilding Corporation - for building four serial submarines of the same class. Within the last contract, Sevmash is executing the subs order as subcontractor.
In accordance with the agreements, all of the prices and terms are carried out in accordance with the State Armaments Program for the period until 2020, with the possibility to adjust the contracts price in 2015.
United Shipbuilding Corporation was founded in 2007 as a 100-percent state-owned group of companies consolidating about 70% of the domestic shipbuilding industry. The Group focuses on the Russian market, but also exports its products to 20 countries. USC currently incorporates three regional shipbuilding centers, nine engineering and design offices and 39 dockyards.
