Zim Integrated Shipping Services entered a cooperation agreement with the Grand Alliance on the service from South China to the U.S. East Coast via the Panama Canal. The agreement, slated to take effect in early April, covers the South China-East Coast Express (SCE) Service, the Israeli carrier said in a statement. The joint service will deploy eight 4,200-TEU vessels, with the Grand Alliance members phasing in five vessels and Zim, three.
The 56-day rotation will be Kaohsiung, Shekou, Hong Kong, Kingston, New York, Norfolk, Savanna, and back to Kaohsiung.
The agreement is subject to Federal Maritime Commission approval.
The Grand Alliance consists of Hapag-Lloyd, MISC Berhad, NYK Line and Orient Overseas Container Line.
Malaysia-based MISC does not operate on this trade and therefore is not part of this particular agreement.
