Tatarstan and Leningrad region discussed possible cooperation at port Ust-Luga
Port Ust-Luga is a project of the global level, it can open new prospects for Tatrstan economy, Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov said at the meeting with Aleksandr Drozdenko, head of the Leningrad region, says press center of the regional administration.
“We have seen the commercial seaport of Ust-Luga. It is a project of the global level, I think it will open new prospects for the country’s economy. I believe that our large producers like TAIF and Tatneft are to find their interests there,” Tatarstan Pres said.
According to Aleksandr Drozdenko, an industrial zone being created near the port is focused on oil refining.
“We would like to create a chemical cluster to produce goods which are in demand both in Russia and abroad,” Drozdenko noted.
Rustam Minnikhanov draw the attention to the advantageous location of the Leningrad region which makes the region attractive for cooperation. In his opinion, port zones in the region can be used not only for oil and product export but also for oil refining for home consumption.
