Throughput of Chinese ports up 9.4% to 4.3 bln t Jan-May’13
In January-May 2013, the ports of China handled 4.3 bln tonnes of cargo (+9.4%, year-on-year), says the Ministry of Transport of the Government of the People's Republic of China. In the accounting period seaports of China handled 2.98 bln tonnes of cargo (+9.2%), river ports – 1.32 bln tonnes (+9.7%).
Container throughput gained 8.2% to 752.6 mln TEUs including 671.8 mln TEUs in seaports (+7.9%) and 80.7 mln TEUs in river ports (+10.2%).
In 2012, throughput of Chinese ports climbed by 6.8% to 9.74 bln tonnes.
