Rocket cruiser "Varyag" visits Chinese port Qingdao
The flagship of the Russian Pacific Navy, guard rocket cruiser “Varyag” came from Vladivostok to Chinese port Qingdao with official visit, Vladivostok Times reports.
During the visit, that will last till April 24, the crew of “Varyag” will represent Russia in celebrations, devoted to the 60th anniversary of the Chinese Naval Forces foundation, as the Pacific Navy press service reported to RIA PrimaMedia. Ships from 20 countries of Pacific Rim will take part in anniversary celebrations, including international sea parade.
The guard rocket cruiser “Varyag” on the 13 of April left Vladivostok and went to Chinese port Qingdao. During the send-off ceremony the Commander-in-Chief of the Pacific Navy, vice-admiral Konstantin SIDENKO made a speech. He wished the crew of “Varyag” to represent suitably the St. Andrew's flag and Russian Naval Forces in Qingdao, where international celebrations, devoted to the 60th anniversary of the Chinese Naval Forces foundation, will be held.
The rocket cruiser with ships from twenty countries of the world will participate in in international sea parade, devoted to the 60th anniversary of the Chinese Naval Forces foundation. Beside this, a great cultural program is being prepared for Pacific seamen in Qingdao. It includes acquaintance with a city, its history, visits to museums and famous places, meetings with Chinese seamen, participation in sports
