MOL (America) Inc. announces April-June 2013 intermodal transit on-time performance results
MOL (America) Inc. announced intermodal transit on-time performance results for April-June 2013. MOL’s overall intermodal transit on-time performance was 70% for April-June 2013, for the three origin ports in Asia, to the six inland destinations in the United States, said in the company's press release.
MOL performed above the 90% target for New York on the PSX and for Dallas on the PCX and nearly reached the target for Memphis on the PSX.
Overall performance was impacted by:
Late arriving vessels. The PCX (one vessel at least 15 hours late) and PSX (five vessels 16 hours late) were impacted by congestion and delays as a result of labor actions at the HIT terminal in Hong Kong.
Weather and derailment related service disruptions that severely impacted the network between the West Coast, Chicago, Dallas, and Memphis. Flooding across Missouri and Illinois in mid-April resulted in track washouts. The various interruptions severely impacted network crew, car, and locomotive balance. Construction at TraPac Los Angeles forced the usage of four cranes instead of 5 cranes which limited our ability to reduce congestion. Although overall intermodal transit on-time performance fell from April (71%) to May (60%), it significantly improved in June (79%).
It should be noted that:
The PSX performance was 78% in June after falling from April (74%) to May (56%).
The PCX performance was 80% in June. It also increased from April (65%) to May (69%).
Our rail performance, measured independently from vessel performance, was 96% in these PSX lanes.
Our rail performance, measured independently from vessel performance, was 83% in these PCX lanes.
