APM Terminals raises €3,000 for cancer research
APM Terminals raised approximately €3,000 for the Dutch Cancer Society last week at the First Annual Philip Littlejohn Golf Event, held on July 10 th at Delfland Golfbaan in Schipluiden, said in the company's press release. The golf outing and tournament to benefit cancer research in the Netherlands was established as a memorial to long - time APM Terminals employee Philip Littlejohn, who passed away at the age of 59 in May , after 43 years with the A.P. Moller - Maersk G roup, i ncluding the past 11 with APM Terminals in The Hague, where he served as Director of Project Implementation. The event, which included approximately 50 participants overall from APM Terminals and its business partners and associates also offered auction o pportunities for donated items for golfers and non - golfers for such prizes as golf fees at the Royal Hague Golf and Country Club and an evening at the Mercure Hotel in The Hague .
Other donors to the auction and event were Terex Port Solutions (which includ es Gottwald Port Technology), Navis (a leading global producer of Terminal Operating Systems, which is part of Finnish - based port equipment manufacturer Cargotec), and The Hague’s World Forum Theater , Massage Sense, and golf professional Frank Van Rijn. Th e event was held on a sun - drenched Dutch summer afternoon as the first of what is planned to be an annual charity event. “Philip Littlejohn started with the company as an eager young trainee at the age of 16, and his professionalism and personal friendshi p have meant so very much to us who knew and worked with him” said APM Terminals Vice President of Business Implementation, Tiemen Meester , adding “we felt that helping to raise funds for cancer research would be a fine way to see his legacy live on”.
