A quadruple agreement on the creation of an innovative educational center NUPAS-CADMATIC has been signed by Admiral Makarov State University of Maritime and Inland Shipping (SUMIS), Russian Maritime Register of Shipping (RS), Design Bureau Petrobalt LLC and Numeriek Centrum Groningen (NCG, Denmark) today, September 24th, 2013, IAA PortNews journalist reports.
The innovative educational center will function on the basis of SUMIS. It will be a component of a conceptually new educational structure destined to meet a range of key challenges in the sphere of training and implementation of projects focused on the development of state-of-the-art CAD facilities in shipbuilding and ship repair sector.
The center will teach to make 3D models and develop detail design in Nupas-Cadmatic system. The center will contribute to integration of domestic educational standards with international requirements and develop cooperation with leading foreign companies in the sphere of designing and construction of vessels.
RS undertakes to provide the center with necessary regulatory documentation, rules and other scientific and technical information on construction, repair and maintenance of marine transport. Besides, the register will participate in the development of educational courses and practical training programmes.
Apart from the operation of the educational center, SUMIS will provide technical support, consulting and educational services to Russian design organizations, shipbuilding and ship repair companies. NCG undertakes the supply of software and education of teachers.
Petrobalt bureau participates in equipment of the educational center and provides all necessary document models as well as standard designs of real ship projects for practical training.
Russian Maritime Register of Shipping (RS) is one of the world's leading classification societies. It was founded in 1913. RS activities are focused on improvement of safety standards, safety of life at sea, prevention of environmental pollution. RS is acknowledged by the European Union and it is a member of the International Association of Classification Societies and an associate member of INTERTANKO, INTERCARGO and BIMCO. Nupas-Cadmatic software is a CAD/CAM engineering software system for the shipbuilding and offshore industry. Nupas-Cadmatic provides a complete solution for the entire shipbuilding process, from initial design, preliminary design, basic design, and detailed design, up to ship production information and support during production and maintenance. Nupas-Cadmatic allows you to significantly save time during the production and engineering phases. It also reduces material costs during the production phase. The software is easy to learn and the fastest to implement on the market.
Design Bureau Petrobalt develops technical and detailed designs of different vessels for Russian and foreign customers, carries out scientific-research and experimental developments in shipbuilding. It currently implements a number of projects focused on the development of state-of-the-art CAD facilities.
Admiral Makarov State University of Maritime and Inland Shipping was set up through the merge of two large industry-focused higher educational institutions - St.-Petersburg State University of Waterway Communications (SPSUWC) and Admiral Makarov State Maritime Academy (SMA).
The University is a vertically integrated scientific and educational complex. Teaching of students and cadets is realized on technical, natural-scientific and humanitarian profiles directly or indirectly connected with globalized shipping industry, shipbuilding and transport logistics.
Admiral Makarov State University is respectful HEI for its professors and instructors, highly developed material and technical base, state-of-the-art technologies and methods to organize an educational process.
