Container traffic of Transsib up 17.5% to 415,000 TEUs in Jan-Aug’13
In January-August 2013, container traffic of the Trans-Siberian Railway increased by 17.5%, year-on-year, to 415,000 TEUs, IAA PortNews journalist cites First Vice-President of Russian Railways Vadim Morozov as saying at the VI International Forum Transport-Transit Potential being held in Saint-Petersburg. According to him, import container traffic hit 201,500 TEUs (+25.2%), export – 136,600 TEUs (+12.1%), transit – 76,300 TEUs (+9.3%).
Despite considerable traffic growth, Russia accounts for slightly more than 1% of total container flow between the West Europe and Asia, Morozov said.
