Tightened customs control at Russia-Lithuania border cancelled from October 10, 2013

Tightened customs control at Russia-Lithuania border is cancelled from October 10, 2013 with the return to normal operation. According to the Federal Customs Service (FCS), the order was given to FCS by RF President Vladimir Putin.

The return to normal operation became possible with the decreased number of violations made by Lithuanian importers and carriers to the level not exceeding overall average now.

“The tightened customs control at Russia-Lithuania border was imposed because of the recent increase in the number of the violations made by Lithuanian importers and carriers. It was revealed in the course of monitoring activities within the framework of risk management system,” the statement reads.
