Sakhalin Energy produced and offloaded 700 LNG cargoes
Sakhalin Energy offloaded the 700th LNG cargo from Prigorodnoye production complex on 10 October 2013, the company says in its press release. The first LNG cargo was produces and delivered by the company in 2009, when the first Russia’s LNG plant has been launched by Sakhalin Energy.
The cargo was loaded to Fuji LNG carrier to be delivered to Japan.
Asia-Pacific is a major global center for LNG consumption (c.a. 66%). These are geographically adjacent markets, and this is a beneficial factor for the Sakhalin Energy. Korea is the second-largest buyer of Sakhalin LNG, while most of it is shipped to Japan. LNG cargoes are also delivered to China, Taiwan and Thailand.
More than 45 mln tonnes of LNG have been produced since Sakhalin Energy started production in 2009. In 2013 the company plans to produce more than 10,5 million tonnes of LNG.
Sakhalin Energy Investment Company Ltd. (Sakhalin Energy) is the operator of the Sakhalin-2 project under a Production Sharing Agreement with the Russian Federation. The company was formed in 1994 to develop the Piltun-Astokhskoye oil field and the Lunskoye gas field in the Sea of Okhotsk offshore Sakhalin Island in the Russian Far East. Under the shareholding structure of Sakhalin Energy, Gazprom holds 50% plus 1 share, Shell 27.5%, Mitsui 12.5% and Mitsubishi 10%.
