MOL (America) Inc. announced intermodal transit on-time performance results for July-September 2013. MOL’s overall intermodal transit on-time performance was 71% for July-September 2013, for the three origin ports in Asia, to the six inland destinations in the United States. The result is a 1% improvement compared to the previous quarter, the company said in its press release.

This indicator measures the on-time performance against the total transit time, including vessel and rail.
MOL performed above the 90% target for Memphis on the PSX, and nearly reached the target for New York. MOL also nearly reached the target for Atlanta on the PCX.

Overall performance was impacted by:
Late arriving vessels. The PCX (seven vessels at least 15 hours late) and PSX (six vessels at least 16 hours late) were impacted by bad weather in Asia.
It should be noted that:
The PSX performance was 74% in July, 81% in August and 56% in September.
The PCX performance was 80% in September after falling from 73% in July to 63% in August.
Our rail performance, measured independently from vessel performance, was 97% in these PSX lanes.

MOL will continue to work with our rail partners and address specifics of operation with the terminals to improve our performance. Please note that MOL also reports our vessel on-time performance in a separate quarterly report.
