Throughput of Tallinn port up 3.9% to 15.4 mln t in H1 09

In the first half of 2009, Tallinna Sadam (the port of Tallinn) handled 15.367 million tonnes of cargo (+3.9%, year-on-year), the port informs according to RZD-Partner. In June, the port’s throughput totaled 2.425 million tonnes (+21.1%, year-on-year).

In the reported period, transshipment of oil products amounted to 11.77 million tonnes (+13.8%), coal – to 438,900 tonnes (up 4-fold). The port’s container throughput fell by 23.9% to 67,309 TEU.

Commercial Seaport of Tallinn is a large cargo and passenger seaport located at the southern shore of the Tallinn Bay. It was founded in 1219. Tallinn is the third largest port of the Baltic Sea after St. Petersburg and Primorsk. The port consists of 5 port ones: Muuga, Old City Harbour, Paljassaare, Paldiski South and Saaremaa. In 2008, the port handled 29.077 million tonnes.
