Odessa Commercial Sea Port starts test operation of new container terminal at Quarantine Mole (photo)
New container terminal at Quarantine Mole of Odessa Commercial Sea Port (Ukraine) undergoes testing through accepting its first vessel. This has been announced at the VIII Black Sea Container Summit in Odessa.
According to Ukrainian Sea Ports Authority, the permits have been obtained for the launch of the terminal’s first phase.
The date of the official opening will be announced depending on the results of the first call.
Expansion of the container terminal on the Quarantine Mole at the port of Odessa is one of the largest investment projects currently taking place in the marine industry in Ukraine on terms of public-private partnership. Its total cost is about 5 billion UAH. Private investor, German company «HPC -Ukraine» invests more than half of the mentioned funds.
HPC –Ukraine, subsidiary of HPC Hamburg Port Consulting GmbH, has been operating in Odessa port since July 1, 2001.
Annual capacity of the terminal’s first phase is to exceed 600,000 TEU.
