Coal exports from port Posiet to APR countries up 37% to 3.7 mln t in Jan-Aug’14

In January-August 2014, coal exports from port Posiet (Mechel Group) to the countries of the Asia-Pacific Region totaled 3.7 mln t (+37%, year-on-year), Mechel says in its press release.

Coal was supplied to the company’s partners in China, S.Korea and Japan. 

The growth was driven primarily by a number of agreements signed with the leading metallurgical holdings in APR countries, the statement says.

Export to APR countries accounts for some 75% of Mechel’s coal exports. According to sales departments of the company’s mining division, total exports to APR countries will exceed 13.5 mln t this year. 

The company delivers its products by water via Posiet and Vanino seaports and by rail via Grodekovo and Makhalino. 

Mechel is an international mining and steel company which employs over 70,000 people. Its products are marketed in Europe, Asia, North and South America, Africa. Mechel unites producers of coal, iron ore concentrate, steel, rolled products, ferroalloys, heat and electric power. All of its enterprises work in a single production chain, from raw materials to high value-added products.
